The Writing on the Wall

The writing is on the wall for those caught scrawling grafitti on areas in Hawtonville. The Safer Neighbourhood group is teaming up with other agencies to tackle this blight on our community.

PCSO Amanda Wheatcroft stated "People who deface property don't realise that it is a criminal offence and can warrant a fixed penalty up to £40. Persistant offenders can expect much harsher treatment".

The group are asking the community to report instances where they spot offenders scrawling grafitti on walls, gates, doors or any property. They should contact the Safer Neighbourhood Group through Amanda on 0300 300 9999.

The group is planning a week of action on grafitti sometime in June. Watch this space!
